ABOUT THE OPPURTUNITY
Sanford Health is seeking to hire a dosimetrist in the Radiation Oncology Department at the Roger Maris Cancer Center. The employee would share duties with three dosimetrists and one lead dosimetrist. The department has four radiation oncologists and four radiation physicists. This is a replacement position for an upcoming retirement. Certification in Medical Dosimetry with two years of dosimetry experience and ARRT registry in radiation therapy are preferred; however consideration will be given to non-certified dosimetrists who are eligible to sit for the MDCB examination.
This position will be involved in all aspects of dosimetry for external beam therapy for conformal, IMRT/VMAT and SBRT plans. Department equipment consists of 3 Varian linacs: a new TrueBeam, a Novalis Tx with ExacTrac, and a 21EX. Department software includes Aria/Eclipse 13.7 and RadCalc. Prior Eclipse experience is required. Other equipment includes a Siemens large bore CT scanner and GE/PET CT scanner in the department. A robust HDR program is in place with an upcoming change to Varian HDR unit.
The department is ACR accredited and is part of Sanford Medical Center Fargo which is accredited by JCAHO. The Roger Maris Cancer Center includes 12 Medical Oncologists and 2 Pediatric Oncologists along with a full array of support services.
Generates dose distributions accurately and calculates computerized isodose plans for the patient as prescribed by medical physicist or radiation oncologist. Delivering a prescribed radiation dose for radiotherapy patients through specific radiation dose measurement under the instruction of medical physicist or radiation oncologist. Computing radiation dose distributions, generating isodose curves, and assisting in calibration of equipment and radioactive sources to maximize treatment efficiency. Carrying out tumor localization and treatment verification simulations on dedicated devices. Maintaining and updating radiological records and conducting equipment quality checks on a regular basis.
Must be a Certified Medical Dosimetrist, or become certified within two years of hire. If working in ND and performing CT Simulation or radiation therapy procedures, must be licensed through the ND MIRT Board of Examiners. Completion of a 24 month course in radiologic technology as well as a 12 month course in radiation therapy technology, or completion of a 24 month course in radiation therapy technology or radiation dosimetry at an approved school. two years experience as a medical dosimetrist or radiation therapist preferred. Must have a thorough knowledge of ionizing radiation.
