JOB SUMMARY

Must possess the skills necessary to perform required therapies and/or diagnostic tests for all types of patients of all ages, including the growth and development needs of patients when indicated. Must be able to learn and utilize new technology as the state of the art evolves and help other staff demonstrate competency. Responsible for providing all forms of respiratory care and/or diagnostic testing to all patient populations in a safe and therapeutic manner following established standards and practices. Responsibilities may be performed in the hospital setting, at offsite locations, or as a member of the air/ground transport system. Duties will also include staff orientation, competency validations and education. A Respiratory Care Lead will act as a resource person and a mentor to the other staff assigned to their area.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Disease Management Lead will be responsible to assist in program development and outcomes analysis for Asthma, COPD, and Tobacco Education programs; and other functions performed by the therapists who provide those services. The Lead is responsible for ongoing team meetings with Sanford HealthCare Accessories and will participate with other interdisciplinary/community groups as co-identified with Manager. Applicant should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent interdisciplinary relationships, and inquisitiveness. Experience with Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook preferred. Will consider FTE 0.8 to 1.0, no weekends, holidays per current personal schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Must have RRT credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within six months of employment and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements. Incumbent is required to maintain a current driver's license as appropriate to position and location. A degree in Respiratory Care from a COARC accredited, advanced-level respiratory program is required; Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care is preferred. Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of life support equipment. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care. Certification in Basic Life Support required. If hired as a Children's Hospital therapist, certification in PALS and NRP is required.
