This is a PRN (as needed) position. Required to perform clinical laboratory testing and other necessary duties to keep the department functioning smoothly. Will work with self discipline, good judgment, and considerable independence while following established standards of practice. Overall will demonstrate technical competency and will consult with leadership when necessary. Needs to recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Understand the use and limitations of laboratory instruments and equipment, must demonstrate proficiency in assigned areas, be able to learn and utilize new technology as laboratory medicine changes. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations for the all age groups. Perform laboratory testing according to established standards and regulations to assist the provider in diagnosis and treatment of the patients.

The new, 284-bed, provides services including emergency/trauma, Family Birth Center, Children’s Hospital, brain and spine surgery, heart surgery, interventional cardiology and general surgery. SMCF Laboratory has an exciting job opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to work in an integrated healthcare system using state of the art technology.
· Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing.
· On-site training
If working in ND, must be licensed by the NDBCLP. If working in MN, must have passed a national certification exam for MT, MLS or CLS through the ASCP within 12 months. Bachelors degree and graduate of an accredited school of Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or be employed at Sanford Health as a Medical Technologist prior to 1991. Must have knowledge of laboratory equipment, procedures, CLIA regulations, and quality control methods.
