Performs gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens. Must utilize critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving. Works under the direction and supervision of a Pathologist.
Discusses key concepts of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology. Presents a professional image, especially when dealing with customers. Promotes organizational learning through knowledge management, training and development, and sharing key experiences. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. Understands medical terminology and code of ethics associated with the industry. Works with common health information concepts and terminology.

Department consists of 11 Pathologists with subspecialties in Hematopathology, Cytopathology, Dermatopathology and expertis in the fields of Breast, GI, GYN, Genitourinary pathology. 4 Pathologist Assistants, 8 Pathology Technicians, and approximately 55,000 cases per year. Gross dissections performed by pathology assistants. This position is a full time position of 80 hours per two week pay period working between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. No on-call, weekend or holiday requirements.

Applicant should possess an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) approved laboratory certification as a Pathologists' Assistant or applicant must be registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. (Due to changes within the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), employees practicing under the guidance of a licensed Pathologist prior to 2010 are grandfathered.) Master's Degree in Pathologists' Assistant required.
