Sanford Health Internship Program aims to provide our interns with challenging, real-world projects specific to their career path. A Guest/Volunteer Services Intern will contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first-hand experience that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
A Guest/Volunteer Services Intern will assist with the running of our 4 gift shops. Develop in-room shopping and assist with web site. Help develop Gift baskets for on-line store. Assist with Hospitality program for Volunteer and Guest Services at SMCF and assist with developing same program for 2 other hospital campuses. Learn to cover each of the 4 shops including POS and general day to day operations. Develop in room shopping program for Gift shop for use by patients/families; to be trialed at SMCF and with eventual roll out to other 2 campuses. Expand the Hospitality program to SU and Broadway including training volunteers. Normal day-to-day activities in Gift shop: help cover the POS; help with customers and phone orders; help direct volunteer’s work. Normal day-to-day activities in Vol/Guest Svcs: assess need for Hospitality at SU and Broadway, write position duties, train current volunteers and work with new volunteers.
Must be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Merchandising/Communications/Business or an immediate graduate having received one of the previously listed majors. Must have good human relations and communications skills; must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the leadership staff. Must have strong problem solving, leadership, and analytical skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
